The successful delivery of the government’s missions requires more than organisational frameworks and strategic plans—it depends on robust leadership at the highest levels of public bodies. Central to this is the relationship between Chairs and CEOs, which serves as the foundation of board effectiveness. When this partnership is collaborative and well-defined, boards are better positioned to align governance with strategy and effectively pursue national objectives.

This session will examine how Chairs can exercise mission-oriented leadership, with a focus on strategies to influence outcomes in the absence of executive prerogatives.

For this session, we are inviting members to explore:

  • Practical tools for aligning mission delivery with governance through chair-CEO partnership
  • Peer-tested strategies for handling difficult boardroom dynamics around mission priorities
  • How leadership at the top shapes public trust and outcomes.
