We are member led. An exclusive information sharing and networking resource for chairs of public bodies.

PCF member programme 2022.

The future of public bodies

New in 2022, we’re offering four distinct types of conversations within your membership subscription:

In person

1. Transforming public bodies

The must-attend sessions of the PCF annual member programme.

Join together with CEOs from Association of Chief Executives (ACE); with speakers from Whitehall and Westminster and subject matter experts, to debate key issues of public body reform.

In these six events, we will explore transformation from the perspectives of the public, technology as a primary enabler of change and finally, the cultural and organisational implications of change.

2. Tea at the IfG

Members are invited to join our monthly informal networking meet-ups at our PCF home; the Institute for Government, Carlton Gardens, London.

Online

3. Peer conversations

As a PCF member, you are eligible to join into these online conversations,:

  • Chairs’ Challenge, providing an informal & supportive environment exclusively for Chairs to gather and explore issues of the day.
  • Chaired Encounters, led by an experienced chair, opportunities to connect with peers and share your experiences and perspectives on the role of the chair.
  • Board Secretaries’ Forum, governance experts in public bodies

4. Thought leadership

Helping us explore our core programme theme of ‘the future of public bodies’ in 2022, we’re undertaking two pieces of research in 2022:

  • Profiling chairs of public bodies: we’re partnering with research consultancy Nous Group on a piece of work to profile the chair of an arm’s-length body.
  • Improving board diversity: this research will provide new advice and guidance for the chairs of public bodies and inform the wider conversation on diversity in public appointments.

We’re also keen to ensure we offer PCF members as much opportunity to contribute to public bodies reform.

We will continue to work closely with the Cabinet Office and other government departments, ensuring we enable public bodies to demonstrate excellence and efficiency in public service.

Throughout your membership year we’ll continue to signpost relevant developments to you and where possible, offer opportunities to contribute to consultations and participate in dialogue and help shape ongoing reform.
