New Public Body Chair Masterclasses Oct-Dec 2023
Hosted jointly by PCF and Institute for Government (IfG), the New Public Body Chair Masterclasses are a series of three masterclasses aimed at supporting new and prospective public chairs as they tackle this unique role. Chairs have described how challenging the first year in the role can be, as they navigate a new set of responsibilities and powers that are often poorly defined.
The purpose of the series is to:
- Explain the governmental and public body landscape
- Examine the relationship between public bodies and sponsoring departments
- Identify and explore key stakeholder relationships
- Reflect on the public chair role and discuss challenges and experiences with others
The masterclasses are specifically designed for:
- Public body chairs in their first year of appointment
- Aspiring chairs, likely to be highly experienced non-executive directors
Session information:
- Session one: The public chair in government – Thursday 5 October, 09:30 – 13:30
- Session two: Building relationships with key stakeholders – Thursday 2 November, 09:30 – 13:30
- Session three: Excelling in your role – Thursday 7 December, 09:30 – 13:30
Participants are required to attend in person for all three sessions, which will take place at:
